Resort Spa of the Year - Western Europe & Scandinavia

Who can enter?

Any Spa in Western Europe or Scandinavia that is located in a Resort. A Resort is considered a full-service lodging facility intended primarily for vacationers, usually located in places frequented for relaxation or recreation, such as beaches, seashores, scenic/historic areas, ski parks, etc.

The difference from a Hotel Spa lies in the range of services and amenities offered - a Resort is typically a self-contained establishment, providing for most of a vacationer's recreational and relaxation needs on the premises (lodging, food, drink, sports, entertainment, shopping, etc.).

If your property is seen in the eyes of consumers as primarily a Hotel, then you should enter the Hotel Spa category, even if the Hotel is a separately run business than the Spa.

Independent Spa Business of the Year

Who can enter?

Any spa business that can make its own decisions – without having to put them through another party. The business should not be associated with another business through common ownership, sharing of employees, facilities and income. The business can have multiple sites as long as its status is a privately held company. i.e. stock in the company, if it exists at all, cannot be traded on the open market. The only people with access to shares of stock are the owners and maybe select employees.

Outstanding Contribution to the Profession

Who can enter?

The World Spa & Wellness Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of the panel of judges, merits recognition either for achievement during their spa career or a significant contribution to the spa industry as a whole. The award may acknowledge the winner’s achievements during their career in the spa industry and/or may recognise a major individual achievement - e.g. creation and development of a major initiative that has changed the spa market.
