The World Spa & Wellness Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of the panel of judges, merits recognition either for achievement during their spa career or a significant contribution to the spa industry as a whole. The award may acknowledge the winner’s achievements during their career in the spa industry and/or may recognise a major individual achievement - e.g. creation and development of a major initiative that has changed the spa market.

Who can enter?

Any Spa in Asia & Australasia which can be independently operated as a day spa or located in a hotel or resort.

Finalists in this category will be required to attend an online interview via video call. Interviews should be with at least two people including the spa leader, plus a team member (e.g. therapist/receptionist) and/or the General Manager/Director. 

These will be held from Tuesday 15th March 2022 and are mandatory for finalists.

Any Spa in Middle East & Africa which can be independently operated as a day spa or located in a hotel or resort.

Any Spa in North & South America which can be independently operated as a day spa or located in a hotel or resort.

These will be held Wednesday 16th March 2022 and are mandatory for finalists.

Who can enter?

Any Spa in Western Europe or Scandinavia that operates exclusively as a daytime destination where there is no overnight accommodation offered. 

Finalists in this category will be required to attend an online interview via video call. Interviews should be with at least two people including the spa leader, plus a team member (e.g. therapist/receptionist) and/or the General Manager/Director.

These interviews will take place from 15th March 2022.

 Who can enter?

Any Spa in Western Europe or Scandinavia that is based in a Hotel, where the primary source of business is the Hotel. The Spa may accept direct customers but overall, to consumers and the outside world, the property is seen as a Hotel.

Finalists in this category will be required to attend an online interview via video call. Interviews should be with at least two people including the spa leader, plus a team member (e.g. therapist/receptionist) and/or the General Manager/Director.

These will be held on Monday 14th March 2022 and are mandatory for finalists.

Resort Spa of the Year - Western Europe & Scandinavia

Who can enter?

Any Spa in Western Europe or Scandinavia that is located in a Resort. A Resort is considered a full-service lodging facility intended primarily for vacationers, usually located in places frequented for relaxation or recreation, such as beaches, seashores, scenic/historic areas, ski parks, etc.

The difference from a Hotel Spa lies in the range of services and amenities offered - a Resort is typically a self-contained establishment, providing for most of a vacationer's recreational and relaxation needs on the premises (lodging, food, drink, sports, entertainment, shopping, etc.).

If your property is seen in the eyes of consumers as primarily a Hotel, then you should enter the Hotel Spa category, even if the Hotel is a separately run business than the Spa.

Finalists in this category will also be required to attend a virtual interview. These will be held on Tuesday 22nd February 2022. If you are unable to attend you will automatically be disqualified from the Awards.

Any spa business that falls within a group structure that has one or more other companies that are owned (directly or indirectly) by a single parent company. All companies in the group are therefore under the ultimate ownership and control of the parent company.

Finalists in this category will also be required to attend a virtual interview. These will be held on Thursday 17th March 2022. If you are unable to attend you will automatically be disqualified from the Awards.

Independent Spa Business of the Year

Who can enter?

Any spa business that can make its own decisions – without having to put them through another party. The business should not be associated with another business through common ownership, sharing of employees, facilities and income. The business can have multiple sites as long as its status is a privately held company. i.e. stock in the company, if it exists at all, cannot be traded on the open market. The only people with access to shares of stock are the owners and maybe select employees.

Finalists in this category will also be required to attend a virtual interview. These will be held on Thursday 17th March 2022. If you are unable to attend you will automatically be disqualified from the Awards.

The driving force behind the Spa at either a single or a number of sites who has overall responsibility of the Spa operations.

The team is the backbone of any business –this category celebrates teams of three or more employees in any Hotel or Resort Spa in any region.

Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination

Who can enter?

Any spa property in the world where health and wellness are the main focus of the spa facilities and spa packages, with the intention of changing lives. Your marketing material will promote your spa as the main reason for consumers to visit and any accommodation will be a secondary consideration of consumers’ decision to book. If your property is seen in the eyes of consumers as primarily a hotel or a resort, then you should either enter the 'hotel’ or ‘resort’ category.


Finalists in this category will be required to attend a virtual official interview. These will be held on Wednesday 16th March 2022. If you are unable to attend the virtual official interview you will automatically be disqualified from the Awards.
